Adoption Stalled
I just read today that Russia may be putting on a temporary suspension on their adoptions into the USA. It was so sad to read Walker's mom's blog telling us that she already received the bad news that Walker's, a boy she means to rename Caleb, that his adoption has been stalled. There is no way to know which way this decision is going to go. So, far I've not seen that the suspension has actually been implemented but judging by Whitney's story it very well has been. I know it's unfortunate that some bad things have happened but what about hundreds of adoptions that go well and where children who were hanging on by a thread, starving from malnutrition have have been brought to health and blossom in their new American families? I can't help but wonder what this means for Marissa and Tera and others in this country? Does this mean they'll have to spend more time at the orphanage?

Adoptions have NOT stopped. Certain agencies have gotten into trouble and anyone going through those agencies will not have their dossier accepted at the moment and won't get a referral or court date. However, it's only those couple agencies. It's not nationwide. There are a number of families that travelled this past week to accept referrals or families who had dossiers accepted. You just have to be going through an organization or agency that isn't in trouble or hasn't done anything to upset the Russians. Hopefully neither of these girls will have to spend any additional time in an orphanage. There are also a couple judges who have put court dates on hold, but they are the minority, not the majority.
