The Kids

This is my older grandson Brandon. He is a growing boy too. He is already in grade 3 and is moving on up in the age. He and his younger brother by four years don't always have something in common but they try to get along and find things to do together. They had fun this summer playing with new friends and running around in their own backyard where their parents didn't have to shadow their every move like they once did.  Here Brandon pauses long enough to give me time for a few pictures.

Maya also took a moment to smile for the camera. She is trying to get adjusted to her new school which is way different than her old one, so she tells us. She would still like to have some of her old friends back but she is slowly making new ones.

Jaxon looks lovingly into his aunty's dark eyes.
He's quite the little cuddle bug. And Maya loves
having her nephews around.

Unique

More old things from around the house. There is an endless supply of them. Some are just old and some are ancient, like original items from 160 years ago. Some things are very interesting and I will go look at them again  just to take in every detail. Some of course need to be replaced but most are worth keeping or refurbishing but mostly they are all very unique and I love having them.

Growing

I feel very lucky to be around to watch my grandsons grow. Sleeping is one of the best ways to grow and this little guy still gets his nap in every now and then. Sometimes he really needs it but he fights against it because there is still so much to do. He is busy all day with one thing or another but when he is out he's out so I take the time to watch him grow.

Old Tins

As I go exploring through my new old house I find many different things of interest at least to me. Loved finding these old tins in the basement. There were a few of them that look pretty old. In some were tools and in some patterns and a couple of letters dated back to 1927 in the most beautiful handwriting. I wish I could write like that. I will have to buy a fountain pen and see if I can learn the alphabet in old style.

View from the Attic

This was the view from the attic window in the beginning of the year when the windows were all frozen and looking as if they were cracked under the ice which created these beautiful designs on the glass. As I take a closer look which I often too at things like this I see many tiny birds taking flight probably looking for spring. After visiting the attic it was time to warm up with a cup of tea.

Fishy Slippers

Posting a few pics left over in my folder. The house in winter and some close ups of nature around the house and one that doesn't really belong but it's just too good to pass up. One sister got these fish slippers for the other sister for her birthday in January and they were hilarious.

Shumai Dumplings

Earlier this year during the Chinese New Year John gave the kids a fantastic cooking lesson on making Shumai Dumplings. They had a great time putting them together even though at first it was a little tricky to get the dumplings to stay in one piece but after they mastered the task and the dumplings were steamed in the bamboo steamer they tasted great. Thanks John, Brandon and Maya for fantastic supper.
